Hot-dip galvanization steel is a kind of steel with galvanization. Galvanization is the process of coating, iron and steel with a layer of zinc by immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc at a temperature around 840 °F (449 °C). When exposed to the atmosphere, the pure zinc (Zn) reacts with oxygen (O2) to form zinc oxide (ZnO), which further reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2) to form zinc carbonate (ZnCO3), a usually dull grey, fairly strong material that stops further corrosion in many circumstances, protecting the steel below from the elements.
Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where corrosion resistance is needed without the cost of stainless steel, and can be identified by the crystallization patterning on the surface (often called a "spangle").
The main steel grades of Hot Dipped Galvanized steel are :
DIN17.162 JIS G3302 EN 10142 EN 10147 ASTM A653-02a
St01Z SGCC DX51D+Z CS Type A/B/C
St02Z SGCD FS Type A, Type B
St03Z SGHC DX52D+Z DDS TYPE A/C
DX53D+Z
St04Z SGC400 S280D+Z SS275
St05Z SGC440 S350D+Z SS340 Class1
